O my God!

Does anyone I know, know that it was the Russians that "won" the Second World War at Stalingrad in 1943 before the debarquement of Americans in Normandy???? That it was only with the victory in Stalingrad that the Americans could move into Normandy?
Does anyone know about the pictures of Stalin, Churchill, and Roosevelt at Yalta or a picture of the Russians holding a flag over Berlin similar to the picture of the Americans holding up the flag in Japan?
I'm in shock!!!!! and I dont remember seeing those photos in any of our history books.
and can anyone remember a photo of Degaulle, Roosevelt and Churchil together because I want to say that that is the picture i remember from history books and not of a picture with Stalin.
But I cant find such a picture when i type in their names in Google France....maybe it's because it's a French site:)
But still.....Dad are you going to be the only one to answer this and say yes, we learned that Russia was just as or more powerful than the US during the 2nd World War?
P.S. I had the most amazing smoked ham tonight for dinner

  1. Okay Jenna, and just calm down! What brought this about? Were you
talking to Fannie and her communist dad (a former exchange student we
once had)? Also recall your french history class you took at Grenoble. In WW2, France was defeated and then divided into occupied northern and
Vichey southern France. The allies Great Britain. USSR and USA sent their
heads of states to conferences concerning the war at Casablanca, Yalta
and Tehran. France was not an ally at that time, it was defeated just like
Belgium, the Netherlands and Denmark. I can check but the only pictures I can recall were prior Normandy discussion talks and the
liberation of Paris for photos of De Gaulle. Now Stalingrad was important certainly as were the battles in north africa and the italy/sicily but Stalingrad is more known for battle tactics of Double
Encirclement as were the battles of Cannae, the Six Day War and the
rescue of the hostages at Entebbe. Remember at Yalla and Tehran Stalin was clamoring for a western offensive besides knocking Italy out
of the War. So as far as USSR defeating the nasty socialists all by its
lonesome, I don't buy it! Enough for the history lesson. Let us know about how to cook ham.
